Capacity Building RFP
Capacity building enables nonprofit leaders and organizations to develop the skills and resources they need to improve their work. Since each situation is unique and circumstances are always changing, effective capacity-building support is tailored to best suit the needs of grantees.
Capacity Building Grants provide support for internal infrastructure and outside expertise to build impactful, efficient, and effective programs and services.
Supported areas include, but are not limited to:
- Strategic or communications planning (including mergers/acquisitions)
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives
- Board development or succession planning
- Development & fundraising planning
- Network and IT planning & implementation
- Fundraising consulting
- Consultant expenses
Funds will not be used for:
- Capital Projects
Eligibility and Timeline:
The capacity building fund is available to currently-funded nonprofit partners.
Communication will be sent to all nonprofit partners via the grantee portal announcing the application is open with the specific criteria for the grant. They will be directed to the appropriate site to complete the short application (which is in its final approval stage). At the close of the application, United Way Community Impact staff will convene and review the applications with notification going out shortly after.
Grant amounts will range between $2,500-$7,500.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, reviewed two times per year and will be communicated and available on our organizational website. An organization is only able to apply once per year. Due to the timing, for 2019 there will only be one submission.
